DEBATE ON LIBERAL’S MINING BILL IMMINENT

WE NEED YOUR URGENT HELP TO STOP THE LIBERALS  PROCEEDING WITH THIS UNJUST BILL

Parliamentary debate on the Liberal Government’s Mining Bill could commence during the final sitting days before Christmas.

Farmers have repeatedly called for the Bill to be delayed until at least the first quarter of next year, to allow further consultation on key amendments as promised by the Libs pre-election.

Subject Box :  Call for delay on Mining Bill debate until next year

Dear Liberal Member of Parliament,

I am deeply concerned to learn that Parliamentary debate on the  Liberal Government’s draft Mining Bill may take place in the final sitting days before Christmas.   If so, the Government is clearly not listening to the repeated calls from landowners to delay this Bill to allow for broader consultations, as promised by the Liberals pre-election.   Nor, it seems, is it taking any notice of farmers’  calls for changes to this Bill to give us greater rights to protect our land against the incursion of resource companies.

If the Liberal Government proceeds with this Bill before Christmas, it runs the risk of losing the support of many who have loyally voted for the Party for decades.   It will be doing exactly what the previous Labor Government did – trying to push this vital Bill through Parliament right in the middle of harvest, the busiest time of year for farmers.

I call on all Liberal Government MPs, both Cabinet Ministers and backbenchers, to act immediately to ensure debate on this Bill is delayed until well into the new year.

Enough is enough!   There are a lot of angry farmers out here who must be listened to.
