Rex Minerals has been given longer to accept a mining lease over the controversial Hillside copper project on the Yorke Peninsula.

  Rex Minerals founder and executive director Steven Olsen said exploring options for a cheaper, smaller-scale start-up at Hillside will preserve value for shareholders.  

  Rex Minerals’ executive chairman David Carland has reinforced the company’s commitment to developing the full-size Hillside project on Yorke Peninsula.  

  Those opposed to the Hillside project have rejoiced in Rex’s setback.  

  The delay of developing Hillside is disappointing for many people who had hoped the mine would bring employment opportunities sooner rather than later.
